Job Introduction
Salary: £41,267.45 per annum with yearly increments based on performance
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Any of the main Hubs: London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or Cardiff. An additional London Allowance of £4,775.00 payable to London based candidates only.
Type of Working Arrangement: Blended approach of home and office-working is available
Hours: This is full-time role (37 hours per week)

The Opportunity
British Transport Police has an exciting opportunity for an NDFU Insight Analyst to join the National Disruption Fusion Unit (NDFU).
As an NDFU Insight Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in transforming complex data into meaningful insight that helps reduce disruption, improve safety, and support informed decision-making across the railway network. Working as a multi-disciplinary analytical specialist, you will combine intelligence analysis, performance analysis, and data science techniques to develop innovative tactical and strategic products for a wide range of stakeholders.
Using cutting-edge analytical methods and technologies, you will identify emerging trends, uncover opportunities for improvement, and provide evidence-based recommendations that help prevent major disruption events before they occur. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally important function, working at the forefront of analytical innovation to help keep Britain's railways safe, efficient, and moving.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing and delivering innovative national insight products and reports that support decision-making across British Transport Police, Network Rail, and wider industry partners.
- Analysing complex data sets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that help reduce disruption, improve railway safety, and enhance network performance.
- Developing and maintaining interactive dashboards and reporting solutions, including Power BI products, to enable stakeholder self-service and increase automation.
- Producing high-quality analytical reports with clear findings, evidence-based recommendations, and practical solutions for operational and strategic challenges.
- Presenting analytical insights to senior leaders and industry stakeholders, translating complex information into concise, impactful briefings and recommendations.
- Monitoring emerging trends and conducting horizon scanning to identify potential future risks, support continuous improvement, and help prevent major disruption events before they occur.

What You'll Bring To The Team
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience conducting research and analysis, including interpreting complex information and producing insightful reports and recommendations.
- Experience managing and analysing large data sets, using analytical tools and Microsoft applications, particularly Excel and Power BI.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, solve problems, and develop innovative evidence-based solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to present complex findings in a clear, concise, and accessible manner.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, work independently, and deliver high-quality outputs to demanding deadlines.
Additional Information
The NDFU are a national, pan-industry unit. Therefore, there is requirement to travel to both BTP and NR sites across the country on a regular basis.
