National Key Account Manager – (Metal Division)
Salary: £35,000 - £55,000, inc OTE
The role is in our Metal Division, covering the maintenance sector of Energy customers. We require people with excellent sales skills and proven success in account management, goal setting, and target achievement. Experience in the industry is essential, selling products and solutions including fixings, tools, chemicals, and engineering consumables.
This is a national role, which requires you to travel extensively around the UK. Location between Midlands, North England & Scotland preferable due to location of accounts.
Job Summary
The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of strategic customers, ensuring strong customer relationships, sustainable revenue growth, and excellent service delivery.
The role works closely with customer stakeholders and internal functions to maximise customer value, improve customer retention, and identify opportunities for account expansion. Acting as the customer's primary commercial contact, the Key Account Manager ensures customer requirements are understood and supported across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management
- Manage assigned strategic customer accounts
- Consistently present results and forecasts to the senior leadership team on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Build strong customer relationships across multiple levels
- Conduct regular account reviews and planning meetings
- Develop customer growth plans
- Support customer retention and satisfaction initiatives
- Ensure customers receive a consistent experience

Commercial Growth
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth and account development
- Increase category penetration within accounts
- Support implementation of new products and solutions
- Achieve account growth targets and KPIs
- Develop pipeline opportunities within assigned accounts
- Support long-term account development strategies
Customer Coordination
- Coordinate support from internal departments
- Manage customer requests and requirements
- Monitor account activity and performance
- Support customer onboarding and development activities
- Resolve customer issues proactively
- Maintain accurate account records and plans
- Being able to prepare customer initiatives that include entertainment, product and service show casing events regularly.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with KAM Partners, Pricing, Purchasing, Customer Operations, and Category teams
- Support strategic customer projects
- Share customer insight and commercial performance across the business especially the sales force on a monthly basis
- Ensure customer priorities are effectively communicated
