Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a National Masjid Manager position within the Fundraising department. The National Masjid Manager will support to develop, manage and deliver a range of fundraising campaigns, throughout the year, in mosques and organisations. Work closely with the London & South regional managers to strategically lead and coordinate fundraising activities in mosques and organisations. Develop a database of mosques and organisations. Develop and deliver an engagement and retention plan to deepen fundraising relationships with mosques and organisation. Securing bookings for collections during Ramadan and other campaigns all year round. Organise events and tours for mosques throughout the year. Maintain good relationship with Mosques by frequently visiting and communicating with them. Recruit, develop and engage with mosque volunteers to support fundraising projects in mosques and organisations. Ensure that all available fundraising opportunities are successfully exploited and maintained at agreed levels of return on investment.

Main Responsibilities:

The National Masjid Manager will be responsible to:

  • Promote and wholly adhere to the fundraising code of conduct and best practice by understanding its ruling and conducting FR events and projects within its parameters to safeguard HA, maintain high professional standards and maintain HA’s public image.
  • Maximise fundraising income and awareness for HA year on year, via;
    • Managing and completing collections during Ramadan and all year round.
    • Maintaining frequent visits and communicating with mosque key stakeholders.
    • Creating a circle of mosque volunteers, and successfully utilising them.
  • Establish clear lines of communications by being the main point of contact between local mosques and organisations and HA. This will involve negotiating agreements, generating leads, coordinating events, providing assistance/HA branding materials and liaising centrally with the Head Office Fundraising Department, in order to improve interdepartmental efficiency, maximize fundraising potential, and ensure value for money.
  • Manage various engaging fundraising projects/activities in mosques by arranging dinners, events, speaker tours and conferences to capture and maintain the public eye throughout the year and raise income with a return on investment.
  • Manage and nurture a network of volunteers in line with the volunteer recruitment strategy by collaborating with the volunteers coordinator, hosting recruitment events, providing training and HA materials,
  • Help develop volunteer recruitment process for mosques, provide a mutually beneficial volunteers program, and support HA to gain loyal organizational man power.
  • Provide support to FR colleagues when necessary by attending and contributing positively to FR regional/national meetings, understanding support needs and providing this to colleagues especially during peak periods (e.g Ramadan and winter).
  • Maintain internal procedures/administration such as donor management system, account management system, and cash counting protocols by ensuring secure information input in a timely fashion to help maintain internal control and mitigation of risk.
  • Contribute towards the development, maintenance and delivery of HA’s (annual) national fundraising plan by maintaining budgets and expenditure, monitoring and report on income generation in line with projects, reporting on variance and taking responsibility for achieving and exceeding income targets. All to deliver efficiency, value and FR targets.
  • Motivate and manage a team within fundraising when required and develop a strong fundraising portfolio to effectively lead and support in house FR teams during events and collections.
  • Adhere to the charities policies and procedures, e.g. fundraising code of conduct, Health & Safety at Work, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Data Protection Act 1998, Equal Opportunities, Company Handbook, Quality Management System, Investor in People etc. at all times in order to maintain high professional standards and maintaining HA public image.
  • Demonstrate on-going professional development through reflective practice and participation in internal and external development opportunities as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development plan, taking a proactive role in own learning and development activities (e.g. private study, e-learning) to benefit self and charity for the future.
  • Manage booking and collections from Mosques (community centers and ISOCs and the likes) all year round, via management of the booking database, updating the Donor Management System, use of FR (fundraising) equipment, liaising with mosques in advance and planning collections, all to help maximize donations and maintain strong ties.
  • Maintain cash controls at all time (in line with financial security and risk mitigation) by; maintaining logs, use of proper equipment such as seal bags, tracked receipts, report discrepancies. All to safeguard the charity in line with proper finance protocols in order to prevent loss of donations and allow tracking and an audit trail.
  • To ensure feedback to Mosques by providing them with receipts, certificates and annual reports to help build trust, provide an audit trial, and secure future donations and relationship.
  • Updating HA database with Mosques, community centers and ISOC prayer halls, through data entry in a prompt and timely manner (in line with SLA). This helps minimize high-risk opportunities, and establish a proper/lean procedure, (risk Mitigation).
  • Being the main point of contact (HA ambassador) for the relationship between Mosques, ISOCs and organisations. This will involve negotiating agreements, co-coordinating events, providing assistance/branding materials and providing the Mosques Department with formal feedback as and when is required. Also Inviting/scouting high profile guest speakers/reciters from oversees to attend mosque events and increase HA profile and income. This helps to maintain trust, secure donations, increase brand, our reach, and awareness.

Candidate essential criteria:

  • Minimum GCSE Mathematics, English. Ideally educated to degree level.
  • Minimum of 2 years in similar post, proven track record of project and events management with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Computer literate and competent with Microsoft Office, Social Media, Donor Management systems.
  • English Language

Candidate desirable criteria:

  • Additional language skills e.g. Spanish, French, Arabic/Urdu/Bengali/Gujarati/ Hindi/Punjabi
