We have an exciting opportunity for a National Psychosocial and Wellbeing Lead to join the Health in Justice service at Practice Plus Group.
This role is home based, with national travel to sites as required.
This is a senior national leadership position within Health in Justice at Practice Plus Group, responsible for leading and developing psychosocial wellbeing and substance misuse services across approximately 60 Health in Justice prison and Immigration Removal Centre (IRC) sites. You will work closely with clinical, operational, and external partners to improve patient outcomes, service quality, workforce development, and governance.
Salary & Hours
This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week.
You will receive an annual salary of up to £80,000 per annum.

- Lead the development and promotion of psychosocial and wellbeing services nationally.
- Shape and enhance substance misuse services and recovery-focused pathways.
- Work with primary care, mental health, therapies, and social prescribing teams to create integrated support services.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of Health in Justice services.
- Provide national leadership to Substance Misuse Leads and wider psychosocial teams.
- Act as a subject matter expert on substance misuse and wellbeing services.
- Mentor and support senior clinicians across the service.
- Ensure services meet internal and external standards, including regulatory requirements such as CQC and HMIP.
- Support incident investigations, complaints management, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop competency frameworks and career pathways for substance misuse professionals.
- Work with training teams to ensure staff receive appropriate education and development.
- Support the development of new roles and innovative models of care.
- Represent Health in Justice services with:
- NHS England
- Regional commissioners
- Partner organisations
- National professional networks
- Patient groups and stakeholders

Qualifications, skills and experience required:
- Educated to degree level.
- Extensive experience working in substance misuse services at a senior level.
- Leadership and management experience within healthcare services.
- Experience leading service transformation and development that improves patient outcomes.
- Ongoing professional development and evidence of applying current research to practice.
- Strong understanding of national healthcare policy and the role of substance misuse services within criminal justice settings.
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary and multi-professional teams.
- Ability to translate research evidence into practical service improvements.
