National Pumps Procurement Manager
Location: Bedford and travel to other offices
Contract type: Permanent
About the Role
This is not a traditional purchasing role. As the company continues to expand, we’re looking for a driven procurement specialist to lead our national pumps division. This is a high-impact role where you'll take ownership of procurement across the Metcor Pumps Division, covering strategic sourcing, supplier management, purchasing operations, stock optimisation, and supply chain performance.
This role offers genuine autonomy and the opportunity to build a procurement function capable of supporting a growing national business. You'll work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in improving profitability, customer service, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of procurement activities across the pumps division.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
- Establish procurement policies, controls, and governance processes.
- Lead commercial negotiations with key suppliers.
- Establish supplier performance measures and review processes.
- Deliver measurable procurement savings and margin improvements.
- Develop strategic partnerships with manufacturers and key suppliers.
- Oversee purchasing activities and purchase order management.
- Work closely with Operations and Stores teams to optimise inventory levels.
- Improve stock availability while reducing excess and obsolete stock.
- Support forecasting, replenishment planning, and working capital improvements.

About You
- Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or sourcing.
- Proven success delivering cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrable experience negotiating supplier agreements and commercial terms.
- Experience balancing strategic procurement objectives with day-to-day purchasing requirements.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within pumps, motors, controls, M&E services, or industrial products.
- CIPS qualification or studying towards CIPS accreditation.
- Experience implementing procurement processes and controls.
- Experience participating in ERP implementation or improvement projects.

- Monday-Friday, 45 hours per week, and lunch break 1 hour each day unpaid

Metcor Pumps have been in the repair, service, and sales of pumps, motors, fan units, and associated equipment since 1989. We undertake complete project management, station design, equipment selection and programming, including any civil engineering needs. Metcor Pumps offer a range of maintenance products to ensure the reliability and operation efficiency of pumping systems and associated equipment.
Our engineers are fully trained with confined space procedures and all relevant health and safety issues and have many years of experience. At our headquarters, we have a fully equipped workshop staffed by experts, offering total in-house service to support our maintenance activities. We understand our customers demand around-the-clock service 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We pride ourselves on offering this service.
