Lead a newly created national team of directly employed Solar PV roofers.
We are recruiting a National Roofing Manager for a rapidly growing, technology-led home energy business that is investing heavily in its directly employed Solar PV workforce.
The company has already built a national team of experienced Solar PV roofers. Your role will be to lead them, support them and make sure the quality of work remains consistently high as the operation grows.
This is not a desk-based management position.
You will be the first person the roofers call when they have a difficult installation, a technical roofing problem, an issue with a customer or simply need support from somebody who understands what life is actually like out in the field.
Just as importantly, you’ll know your team. Who are the standout performers? Who needs some coaching? Where are standards slipping? Which jobs need visiting? Which installers can be trusted with the difficult or high-profile work?
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing and developing a national team of directly employed Solar PV roofers
- Acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day technical, operational and people issues
- Supporting roofers with difficult roofs, complex installations and remedial work
- Reviewing completed installations and maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Carrying out site visits, quality inspections and installation audits
- Coaching individuals, recognising strong performance and addressing issues where standards fall short
- Supporting onboarding and development of new roofers
- Working closely with technical, operations and customer teams to resolve escalated installations
- Helping establish consistent roofing and Solar PV installation standards nationally

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The objective isn't simply to push installers to complete more jobs.
The business is building an employed roofing team because it wants installers it knows, trusts and can invest in — people who can be relied upon for challenging installations and who represent the company properly in customers' homes.
Your role is to make sure that standard is maintained.
What We’re Looking For
You'll ideally have a strong background within roofing, Solar PV installation or renewable energy, combined with proven experience managing field-based tradespeople.
You should have:
- Experience managing roofers, Solar PV installers or field engineers
- Strong practical knowledge of domestic pitched roofing
- A good understanding of roof-mounted Solar PV systems
- Excellent people-management and communication skills
- Experience coaching, developing and managing performance
- Strong understanding of installation quality and workmanship
- Confidence dealing with difficult situations and technical problems
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationally

Get help with your application
Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You don't necessarily need to be installing panels yourself anymore, but you do need technical credibility.
If an experienced roofer phones you from a slate roof with an installation problem, you need to understand what they're talking about and help them find a solution.
Why Join?
You will be joining a successful, well-funded home energy business that combines a significant national installation operation with its own market-leading technology platform.
The directly employed Solar PV division is still relatively new, meaning this is a genuine opportunity to shape how the national roofing operation is managed and developed, rather than simply inheriting processes that have existed for years.
The package includes:
- 38 days' paid holiday
- Private healthcare
- Pension matched up to 6%
- Life assurance worth four times your salary
- Enhanced family-friendly policies
- Ongoing training and development
- Genuine progression within a rapidly growing national business
This role could suit an experienced Roofing Manager, Solar Roofing Manager, Solar PV Manager, Roofing Operations Manager, Installation Manager, Field Operations Manager or Senior Solar PV Roofer looking to step into a national leadership position.
