National Route Planner – Bedford, MK44 3JZ
Location: Bedford, MK44 3JZ Salary: £33,925.00 per annum Hours: Full-time office-based (08:30 – 17:30)
About the Role
We are recruiting for a National Route Planner to join our transport team. You will oversee the efficient and effective daily routing of all Copart’s collections, deliveries, and returns for our national fleet of Transporters and sub-contractors. Your core responsibility is to continually review and enhance productivity while maintaining cost-effectiveness, ensuring customer SLAs are met or exceeded and delivering exceptional service to both internal and external clients.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Route optimisation: Conduct cost-effective daily route scheduling using PTV Route Optimiser.
- Performance analysis: Create daily reports to assess and improve collection and delivery efficiency and productivity.
- System maintenance: Keep
<strong>routing software settings</strong>` up to date to guarantee peak performance. - Target achievement: Consistently achieve and exceed internal KPI targets.
- Vendor liaison: Work with subcontractors and yards to maintain performance levels.
- Reporting: Provide monthly reports covering:
- Miles per metric tonne (MPM)
- Fleet productivity
- Driver and sub-haul usage and costs

Essential Requirements
- Route planning experience: Proven experience using route optimisation software.
- Analytical skills: Ability to create meaningful Excel reports and identify performance trends.
- KPI mastery: History of working to achieve or exceed KPI targets.
- Process improvement: Skilled in usefully adapting routing/operational workflows for better efficiency.
- Geographical knowledge: Strong understanding of UK logistics geography and terrain.
- MS Office proficiency: Advanced user of Excel & Microsoft packages.
- Team collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
Desirable Attributes
- Industry experience: Vehicle recovery or auction logistics sector preferred.
- Software familiarity: Experience with PTV or similar fleet optimisation tools, ideally in a multi-site capacity.
