National Sales Manager / Commercial Sales Head – Cheese Products

Location: UK (Remote)
Travel: International travel across Europe as and when required
Salary: £Open + Benefits - Highly competitive package – salary will not be a constraint for the right candidate.

Role Overview

One of our clients, a leading cheese producer and dairy cooperative in the Baltic region, is looking to appoint an experienced National Sales Manager – Cheese Products to support the continued expansion of its international cheese business.

The organisation operates multiple manufacturing facilities across Estonia and Latvia, with a strong focus on cheese production and international distribution.

This is a key commercial growth opportunity for an experienced cheese sales professional who can develop European and international markets, build strategic relationships with retailers and distributors, and identify new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate will bring strong cheese-sector knowledge, international sales experience, and an established network of industry contacts to help accelerate market development and contribute to the growth of the client's global cheese sales operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies for cheese products across UK, European, and international markets.
  • Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities with retailers, distributors, wholesalers, and food-sector customers.
  • Manage and grow strategic cheese accounts, building long-term commercial relationships.
  • Leverage an established network of industry contacts to accelerate market penetration and customer acquisition.
  • Identify new markets and opportunities for international cheese sales.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, pricing discussions, and customer agreements.
  • Work closely with production, supply chain, and logistics teams to align customer requirements with manufacturing capacity.
  • Monitor market trends, customer requirements, pricing, and competitor activity.
  • Support the wider international sales strategy and contribute to the continued growth of the cheese business.
  • Represent the organisation at customer meetings, trade events, and relevant industry forums.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience within the cheese industry.
  • Strong track record in cheese sales, international sales, export sales, or business development.
  • Existing relationships with retailers, distributors, wholesalers, or food-sector customers.
  • Strong and demonstrable cheese-sector network/book of contacts.
  • Experience developing new markets and winning new customers.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and account-management skills.
  • A proactive business development/hunter mindset.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote-based role.
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working for a cheese manufacturer, cheese producer, or cheese exporter.
  • Experience with branded, private-label, and/or commodity cheese.
  • Established network across UK food retail, wholesale, or distribution (Good to have Europe network).
  • Experience working across multiple international cheese markets.
