National Sector Sales Manager

As National Sector Sales Manager, you will be responsible for achieving revenue and growth targets across a defined market sector, developing strategic customer relationships, and identifying new business opportunities.

You will lead the sales activity within your sector, working with regional and national customers to deliver our sales strategy and increase our share of existing customer spend.

As a key point of contact for strategic accounts, you will build strong, long-term customer partnerships, provide technical advice on access requirements, and work closely with colleagues across Vp to identify opportunities and deliver the best solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a national sector sales plan aligned to business strategy and growth targets
  • Manage and develop relationships with key national and regional customers, acting as the main contact for strategic accounts
  • Build strong, long-term partnerships with customers, understanding their current and future needs, and developing joint business plans
  • Identify new business opportunities and increase revenue from existing customers
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and margin targets, while maintaining strong hire rates and product utilization
  • Lead the pricing and submission of high-value bids and tenders, coordinating teams across the business to deliver profitable opportunities
  • Build accurate sales forecasts and maintain a clear pipeline of opportunities and risks
  • Provide technical advice and consultation to customers on their access requirements
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Logistics, Finance, and other Vp businesses to deliver a seamless customer experience
  • Support the resolution of complex customer requirements, queries, and commercial issues
  • Lead and support the regional sales team, sharing sector knowledge, best practice, and opportunities
  • Act as a subject matter expert for your sector, helping the wider sales team understand customer needs and market opportunities
  • Use customer, market, and competitor insight to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for growth
  • Ensure accurate use of CRM, including customer information, activity, and sales opportunities
  • Support continuous improvement across sales processes, tools, and ways of working
  • Ensure customer solutions are delivered in line with UK Forks standards and commercial requirements
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety and comply with relevant site and HSE requirements

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced sales professional who can build strong customer relationships, develop strategic opportunities, and deliver commercial results. You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a technical sales, account management, or business development environment
  • Experience managing strategic or national accounts, ideally within a rental, construction, or related sector
  • Strong commercial awareness and a track record of delivering revenue and margin targets
  • The ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to understand customer, market, and competitor information and turn insight into new business opportunities
  • Experience working collaboratively across Sales, Operations, Logistics, Finance, and other business functions
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex situations and competing priorities
  • Experience of managing major opportunities or tenders from initial identification through to final proposal
  • Confidence working with data, forecasts, and CRM systems
  • Some engineering or technical knowledge
  • A valid driving licence
  • A degree or equivalent qualification is desirable, although strong candidates with relevant experience and qualifications such as HNC, HND, or A Levels will also be considered
