About the job

What's in it for you?

  • £60k base + £6k car allowance, plus a discretionary bonus — circa £70k package
  • A newly created, senior role reporting directly into the People Director
  • A genuine blank canvas — build a 12-month training strategy and an apprenticeship framework from scratch, with an untouched levy to invest
  • High-trust, low-micromanagement culture — you own your diary and your priorities
  • Lead and shape a team of five regional trainers, a training coordinator, and the wider national training function
  • Real scope to commercialise training and open up a new revenue stream for the business
  • Genuinely flexible, field-based role — no fixed office, no fixed hours, just results
  • UK-wide role — you can be based anywhere, though the Midlands/North offers the best fit for travel

Who are they?

Our client is a market-leading, national grounds maintenance and horticulture business, employing around 4,500 people, roughly 90% of whom are operational and out in the field every day. They're spread right across the UK, with a network of regional offices supporting the business. Having recently restructured their People function from a regional to a functional model, they're investing seriously in training and development as a strategic priority rather than an afterthought. It's a fast-paced, safety-critical, seasonal business — weather, machinery, and site conditions all shape the working week — and one where honesty, visibility, and being genuinely out with the teams matter more than polish. This is a confidential search, so full client details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
