Description
The Coalition, Advocacy, and Organizing Manager is responsible for strengthening and coordinating Nature for All’s coalition-based approach to protecting public lands, expanding equitable access to nature, and building a lasting base of support for nature across Los Angeles County.
This position serves as the primary coordinator of the Nature for All Coalition and works at the intersection of coalition building, community organizing, advocacy, and government relations. Working closely with staff, coalition partners, community leaders, public agencies, and elected officials, the Manager helps align organization around shared priorities, mobilize community participation, and advance collaborative advocacy campaigns.
The ideal candidate is a relationship builder and organizer who understands that lasting policy change is achieved by developing trusted partnerships, empowering community leaders, and building collective action.
Core Responsibilities

Coalition Leadership & Partnership Management
- Serve as the primary coordinator for the Nature for All Coalition.
- Convene coalition meetings, facilitate collaboration, and track shared priorities and deliverables.
- Build trusted relationships among coalition members and identify opportunities for collective action.
- Coordinate Nature for All's participation in regional and statewide coalitions.
- Maintain systems for coalition communication, accountability, and information sharing.
- Help translate coalition priorities into coordinated advocacy and organizing strategies.

Advocacy Campaigns & Government Relations
- Support advocacy campaigns related to the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, Angeles National Forest, park equity, climate resilience, public lands, and equitable access to nature.
- Coordinate advocacy efforts with coalition partners and community leaders.
- Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, federal land managers, public agencies, and policymakers.
- Organize meetings, site visits, stewardship events, and community forums that connect decision-makers with community members.
- Develop advocacy materials including fact sheets, talking points, action alerts, testimony, and public comments.
- Monitor policy opportunities and coordinate coalition participation in advocacy efforts.

Community Organizing & Leadership Development
- Support, and activate Community Ambassadors, volunteers, and coalition partners.
- Mobilize community members to participate in public meetings, stewardship events, advocacy campaigns, and civic engagement opportunities.
- Help move participants along Nature for All's leadership pathway—from outdoor experiences to stewardship, advocacy, and community leadership.
- Facilitate training workshops, listening sessions, and community education activities.
- Support coalition and partner events that strengthen environmental leadership and community power.

- Communications & Campaign Coordination
- Support campaign messaging, newsletters, digital communications, and community outreach.
- Develop organizing materials, action alerts, and educational resources.
- Maintain coalition and stakeholder databases and campaign tracking systems.
- Document coalition activities, community engagement, and advocacy outcomes for reporting and storytelling.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in coalition building, coordination of coalitions, community organizing, advocacy campaigns, public engagement, government relations, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success building trusted relationships, organizing diverse groups around shared goals, and supporting collaborative advocacy campaigns or collective action efforts.
- Experience mobilizing community members and partners to participate in advocacy actions, public meetings, stewardship activities, and civic engagement opportunities.
- Strong facilitation, consensus-building, and relationship management skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse organizations, communities, and perspectives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex issues into clear, compelling messages and develop advocacy materials for policymakers, coalition partners, and community audiences.
- Strategic thinker with strong organizational and project management skills, capable of coordinating multiple initiatives, managing competing priorities, and moving ideas into action.
- Experience planning and facilitating coalition meetings, trainings, workshops, public events, and stakeholder convenings.
- Demonstrated judgment, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable representing Nature for All in meetings with community members, coalition partners, elected officials, public agencies, the media, and other external stakeholders.
- Comfortable moving between community meetings, coalition strategy sessions, legislative offices, and outdoor stewardship events.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel throughout Los Angeles County.
- Valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with California environmental policy, public lands, parks, transportation, water, climate resilience, or environmental justice issues.
- Knowledge of federal public lands policy and management, including national forests, national monuments, and protected public lands.
- Experience working with Congressional offices, government agencies, elected officials, or public affairs teams.
- Adaptable and energized by working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Motivated by building community power and helping create lasting change through advocacy, leadership development, and coalition-building.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
Travel Requirements
This position requires regular travel throughout Los Angeles County to attend community meetings, coalition convenings, public hearings, stewardship events, and meetings with elected officials and agency partners. The role also requires periodic travel to Sacramento, Washington, D.C., and other locations for advocacy fly-ins, policy meetings, partner convenings, and strategic gatherings related to Nature for All’s public lands and environmental priorities.
The ability to travel, occasionally work evenings and weekends, and participate in outdoor and community-based events is an essential function of this position.
Workload and Physical Demands
This position requires flexibility to work beyond a standard workday, including occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
The employee will regularly use a computer, participate in meetings virtually and in person, communicate by phone and email, and travel throughout Los Angeles County.
The employee may occasionally support outdoor events and stewardship activities requiring the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
