It provides world-class advice, training, and research to optimise operational capability in every environment. INM combines scientific expertise with practical support, ensuring personnel remain healthy, safe, and effective wherever they serve.
This position is advertised at 37.5 hours per week.
Job Description
The Survival and Thermal Medicine Department are looking for a dynamic, organised and efficient Band 5 healthcare professional to work within the STM team delivering specialist testing in the Exertional Heat Illness, Rhabdomyolysis, Cold Injury and Fitness Anthropometry clinics.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising of doctors, nurses and scientists, delivering basic nursing care to patients arriving for their appointments as well as routine organisation of the clinic. The post holder will work closely with the departmental Lead Nurse, have opportunity to support research trials and studies ensuring highly ethical research standards, and take part in delivering training and teaching to both medical and non-medical personnel.
What you'll be doing
- Pre-assessment medicals comprising of basic observations and ECG
- Supporting patients through assessment
- Phlebotomy
- Clinical stock rotation and ordering
- Supporting research projects
Person Specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to meet the following essential criteria:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) on Nursing and Midwifery Council Register
- Competent in phlebotomy, performing ECGs and basic observations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills
Desirable Criteria
In date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Safeguarding Level 2 (Children and Adults) or willingness to undertake training. Previous Military, Defence or Occupational Health experience desirable but not essential.

Selection Process Details
This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Experience and Technical skills.
The Ministry of Defence adopts a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviours, which includes bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, and victimisation.
