Join Police Digital Service as a Business Intelligence Analyst
FTC 12 Months. Full time. Salary starting at £40,000 per annum.
Police Digital Service (PDS) is recruiting on behalf of the NPCC National Data & Analytics Office - NDAO a dedicated national capability transforming data and analytics use in policing.
You will work closely with stakeholders, product teams, data engineers, BI developers and analysts to understand business challenges and develop reporting, dashboards, performance metrics and analytical products that drive measurable outcomes.
The successful candidate will combine analytical expertise, business understanding and communication skills to identify trends, measure performance, evaluate impact and provide evidence-based recommendations that support strategic and operational priorities across policing.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance business intelligence reports, dashboards and performance reporting solutions.
- Gather, interpret and document business requirements from a range of stakeholders.
- Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Support the adoption, rollout and continuous improvement of national data and analytics products by monitoring usage, stakeholder engagement, performance metrics and realised benefits.
- Develop and monitor KPIs, performance measures and outcome frameworks aligned to organisational objectives.
- Translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations that support decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with BI Developers and Data Engineers to ensure analytical requirements are delivered effectively.
- Produce high-quality reporting products, presentations and briefing materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support benefits realisation, programme evaluation and performance management activities.
- Promote data quality, governance and best practice in the use of data and reporting.
- Support the adoption of self-service analytics and data-driven decision-making across policing.
- Contribute to the development of national reporting standards, analytical methodologies and insight capabilities.
- Present findings and recommendations confidently to a range of stakeholders, including senior leaders

What you need to succeed in the role
- Demonstrable experience in a Business Intelligence, Data Analyst, Performance Analyst or equivalent analytical role
- Strong experience using Power BI to develop dashboards, reports and visualisations.
- Experience analysing and interpreting large and complex datasets.
- Strong SQL skills and experience querying structured data sources.
- Experience defining and monitoring KPIs, measures and performance frameworks.
- Ability to translate business requirements into analytical outputs and reporting solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience communicating complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience producing insight-led recommendations that support decision-making.
- Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services or modern cloud analytics platforms.
- Understanding of dimensional modelling, data warehousing and semantic models.
- Knowledge of DAX and Power Query.
- Experience within policing, criminal justice, public sector or other regulated environments.
- Experience supporting programme performance management, benefits tracking or evaluation activities.
- Knowledge of data governance and information management principles.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques or analytical methodologies.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments

Working Arrangements
This is a remote role with some national travel required to attend meetings.
All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
