Job Purpose
The NDE Engineer supports the Core Technologies Materials & Fabrication COE by providing engineering expertise in non-destructive testing, welding inspection, fabrication quality, validation and qualification activities. Working with Materials Engineers, Welding Engineers, Product and Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality and Global Sourcing & Procurement, the role helps ensure inspection requirements are technically sound, consistently applied and appropriate for the product, process and risk.
The role contributes to tenders, projects, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), New Product Development (NPD), supplier qualification and manufacturing support. It also develops and improves specifications, procedures, lessons learned, knowledge assets and digital workflows to reduce technical risk and improve engineering productivity.
Job Description
- Provide NDE engineering support to tenders, projects, product lines, manufacturing facilities, suppliers and service operations.
- Develop, review and technically approve NDT procedures, techniques, inspection plans, qualification procedures and acceptance criteria within delegated authority.
- Review client, regulatory, industry and internal NDT requirements; identify technical gaps, conflicts, risks and proportionate solutions.
- Support selection and application of conventional and advanced NDT methods for the material, product geometry, manufacturing route and damage mechanism.
- Review NDT results, technical reports and inspection records; communicate findings, limitations and recommended actions clearly.
- Provide technical support for non-conformity resolution, concession requests, repair assessment, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support pre-inspection meetings, technical reviews, qualification trials, manufacturing readiness reviews and site or supplier visits as required.

You are meant for this job if:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Welding Engineering.
- Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering degree may be considered where the candidate demonstrates substantial academic and practical specialization in welding and NDT/NDE.
- Relevant industrial experience in NDT/NDE engineering, inspection, welding fabrication or manufacturing quality.
- Practical experience supporting welded products, fabrication activities, NDT procedure application and inspection result evaluation.
- Experience in oil and gas, subsea, offshore, energy, pressure equipment or another safety-critical manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience with carbon steels and corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steels, duplex stainless steels, nickel alloys or clad/overlay systems is advantageous.
- Experience with supplier qualification, technical audits, manufacturing support or project/tender execution is desirable.
