A qualified NDT Inspector with penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic testing (MT) certification is sought for a hands-on role in which the successful candidate will ensure component integrity and support high-quality precision manufacturing.

The company is part of a global manufacturing group with operations across Europe, Asia and the Americas and is renowned for precision engineering and the production of mission-critical components.

This role is based in Lincoln, working within the quality department. The successful candidate will perform critical non-destructive testing (NDT) using the PT and MT methods to verify the integrity of manufactured components and welds, playing a key role in maintaining the highest quality standards on the shop floor.

This position offers the opportunity to join a well-established, quality-focused manufacturing site where technical expertise directly contributes to product integrity and operational excellence. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teams in a supportive environment that values precision, safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Performing PT and MT inspections on components and welds in accordance with approved procedures
  • Setting up, calibrating and operating non-destructive testing equipment using established techniques
  • Interpreting test results, evaluating indications against acceptance criteria and accurately classifying defects
  • Preparing and maintaining NDT procedures, work instructions and detailed inspection records
  • Preparing test areas and ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards
  • Supporting production teams with workflow, line balancing and basic process improvement activities
  • Collecting and analysing production data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement
  • Providing day-to-day practical support and guidance to operators on best practices
  • Working closely with production, quality, maintenance and engineering teams to support quality assurance and new product introductions
  • Observing and promoting safe working practices at all times
  • Participating in waste reduction, cost saving and efficiency improvement projects
  • Ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards, quality requirements and company procedures.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current EN 4179 and NAS 410 qualifications in liquid penetrant testing and MT
  • Proven experience performing PT and MT inspections in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to interpret inspection results accurately
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the shop floor and cross-functional teams
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and the ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Awareness of health & safety requirements in a production environment
  • Willingness to learn and support Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement principles.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC)/Higher National Diploma (HND), degree, apprenticeship or equivalent in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering
  • Experience with time and motion studies, cycle time analysis or standard work development
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP)/material requirements planning (MRP) systems or production reporting tools
  • Background in high-volume or precision manufacturing
  • Formal Lean or Six Sigma awareness/training
  • Experience in project work or continuous improvement initiatives.

Shift Patterns

  • Shift A (no premium): Monday-Thursday, 6.00 am-1.35 pm, and Friday, 6.00 am-12.45 pm
  • Shift B (20% premium on a Friday): Monday-Thursday, 1.25 pm-9.05 pm, and Friday, 12.35 pm-7.00 pm.
  • Overtime is available when required.
