We are now recruiting NDT Technicians to support a long-term programme of work with EDF Energy, starting in January 2027.
The Opportunity
The programme is expected to run through to December 2027, with the potential for the work to continue beyond this date. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work across a number of EDF nuclear sites, including:
- Hartlepool
- Torness
- Heysham
- Sizewell B
- Dungeness
- Other EDF locations as required
As an NDT Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out non-destructive examination works using the required techniques and in accordance with relevant company and/or client procedures and acceptance criteria.

There is currently a significant backlog in the clearance process, with vetting taking approximately 3–4 months. Starting the recruitment and clearance process early will therefore be essential to ensure successful candidates are cleared and ready to commence work in January.
Key Responsibilities
The NDT Technician will include, but not be limited to:
- Carrying out day-to-day inspections using welding inspection and NDT methods to the satisfaction of the client.
- Keeping the Site Manager/General Manager up to date with job status and progress.
- Ensuring activities are completed safely, effectively, on time and within budget.
- Maintaining timesheets and all required documentation.
- Ensuring equipment and consumables are within calibration dates prior to use.
- Producing accurate inspection reports in line with company and client quality procedures and the Applus+ NDT Reporting Procedure.
- Working across EDF sites as required in support of the programme.
- Supporting the training and development of less experienced team members.
- Keeping all relevant certification up to date and providing copies to management as required.
- Working in accordance with Applus+ requirements relating to independence, impartiality, integrity and authorised activities.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- PCN Level 2 in MPI, DPI and UT 3.8.
- CCNSG Site Safety Passport.
- Must hold or be prepared to obtain CTC security clearance.
- Documentary evidence of training and minimum on-the-job experience in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and BS EN ISO 9712.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work across EDF sites as required.
Desirable:
- PCN / SNT and/or CWIP Level 1 or Level 2 certifications.
- Knowledge of the services provided by Applus+.
