Help support the technology that keeps critical operations moving
As a Near-Mission Critical Application & Infrastructure Technical Specialist at Cadent, you'll play a key role in supporting and evolving the technology platforms that enable critical operational and business processes. Working across our Near-Mission Critical estate, you'll help ensure applications, infrastructure and integrations remain secure, resilient, and available to support the organisation's operational needs.
This is a highly technical role where you'll act as a subject matter expert across Near-Mission Critical applications, operational technology platforms, and supporting infrastructure. You'll work closely with operational teams, delivery teams, vendors, and technology specialists to ensure services remain stable, supported, and aligned with future business requirements.
From maintaining business-critical systems and supporting application roadmaps to providing technical assurance and participating in a 24x7x365 support environment, you'll play a vital role in safeguarding services that are essential to Cadent's operations.

What you will bring:
You're an experienced technical specialist with strong application and infrastructure support experience, combined with a passion for delivering resilient and reliable services.
Critical Systems & Infrastructure Experience
- Experience supporting business-critical systems within a 24x7x365 operational environment.
- Strong understanding of application support, infrastructure management, and service operations.
- Experience resolving incidents, managing problems, and supporting change activity.
- Experience delivering technical input into projects, testing, and service transition activities.

Operational Technology Knowledge
- Knowledge of Operational Technology (OT) environments.
- Experience supporting applications connected to operational systems.
- Understanding of business-critical support models and service continuity requirements.
Technical Expertise
Strong technical knowledge across a number of the following areas:
- Windows Server and Client administration
- Citrix and Active Directory technologies
- System monitoring and security monitoring
- High-availability platforms, clustering, and disaster recovery
- Backup, storage, and business continuity solutions
- Configuration and platform management
- ArcGIS and associated applications
- SQL Server and integration technologies
- Aveva PI Server and PI Vision
- SAP Solace AEM
- Aveva Gas Day Advisor
- Aveva Commercial Gas Advisor
- Aveva Reports
- Enterprise file transfer and integration solutions such as Globalscape EFT and Workato
Development & Data Skills
- Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as.NET, Java, Visual Basic, XML, C/C++, and scripting technologies.
- Experience working with SQL, relational databases, and time-series data.
- Understanding of system integrations and middleware technologies.
Stakeholder & Leadership Skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical issues into business-focused language.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability.
- Experience working with suppliers, project teams, and senior business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Computing or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- SCO certification at CP/AE level.
- Typically 5-10 years of IT experience, including second or third-line support experience within complex enterprise environments.
