Role Description
The NED Partnerships Student Housing & Temporary Accommodation UK role is a part-time, hybrid position based in London, with flexibility for some work from home.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Providing strategic guidance on partnership development
- Advising on opportunities to expand student housing and temporary accommodation offerings
- Attending board or committee meetings
- Reviewing proposals and partnership agreements
- Offering constructive challenge and oversight on risk, governance, and impact

The individual will help build and maintain relationships with developers, building owners, housing providers, and public-sector stakeholders, and may support fundraising or investment discussions related to accommodation projects.

The NED will contribute to long-term planning, help monitor performance against objectives, and ensure that activities align with the organization’s social mission and regulatory obligations.
Qualifications
- Experience in student housing, temporary accommodation, or wider residential property, with a strong understanding of UK housing and education sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and oversee strategic partnerships with universities, local authorities, housing providers, or community organizations.
- Background in governance or non-executive roles, including familiarity with board responsibilities, risk management, and regulatory compliance for CICs or similar entities.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior decision-makers and represent the organization externally.
- Analytical and financial literacy skills to review business cases, budgets, and performance reports, and to contribute to sustainable growth plans.
- Commitment to social impact, inclusivity, and ethical practice, with sensitivity to the needs of students and people in temporary or vulnerable housing situations.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing attendance at key meetings in London with independent work from home.
- Relevant professional experience in property, education, social enterprise, or public sector; prior NED experience and knowledge of UK CIC frameworks are desirable.
