Job Purpose

Northwest Partners are proud to have secured SHFA Upstream Homelessness Prevention funding to deliver the North Glasgow Homelessness Prevention Service. This investment allows us to welcome two dedicated officers, who will work alongside every new tenant, who move into our homes, from day one.

Drawing on the success of Maryhill Housing Association’s award‑winning sustainment service, our Connectors will offer early, compassionate, practical support that helps tenants settle into their new homes with confidence. By being present at tenancy inception, listening closely, and acting quickly, they will ensure that any challenges are spotted early and resolved before they escalate, preventing crisis, strengthening wellbeing and reducing the risk of future homelessness.

The role provides early, practical, trauma‑informed support that prevents crisis, reduces the risk of homelessness, and empowers tenants to thrive. Officers ensure every new tenant has a warm, safe, comfortable home, understands their rights and responsibilities, and knows where to access help when needed. Working alongside the Housing Management teams within Queens Cross Housing Association and Maryhill Housing Association, you will engage with new tenants to help them sustain tenancies, as well as integrate within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support new tenants of QCHA and MHA to settle safely in their homes and help them to access health care, education, training and community groups to support their overall wellbeing.
  • Manage a caseload of referrals in line with procedures.
  • Provide help and support to understand heating systems, meters and suppliers.
  • Assist with UC, DHP, SWF applications and arrange FST appointments for complex cases – keep tenant progressed on applications, following up if delays.
  • Ensure tenants are able to pay bills with adequate access to banking.
  • Supporting tenants by identifying initiatives that maximise household.
  • Carry out early check‑ins with new tenants to resolve tenancy issues quickly through house visit and telephone calls.
  • Capturing feedback through proactive feedback through new tenant casework procedures working closely with other members of the wider team to resolve any issues or concerns.
  • Signpost to local organisations and services including money advice, welfare rights, energy support and wellbeing activities etc.
  • Document all contact, assessments and outcomes and contribute to monthly/annual reporting.
  • Support tenants navigate complex pathways, improving confidence and reducing dependency.
  • Maintain a database of local based and Glasgow services and activities for effective signposting.
  • Deliver workshops for prospective tenants about having a home with MHA, QCHA, identifying the key responsibilities of being a tenant to meet tenancy obligations and maintaining the home.
  • Build trust, support people in crisis and refer to specialist TSOs if more complex issues are identified.
  • Deliver drop in provision, providing housing and homeless prevention advice for local 3rd sector services.
  • Organising and facilitating workshops to inform local organisations about Ask and Act Duties.
  • Responding to referrals in a timeous manner through to resolution or case closure.
  • Follow adult/child protection procedures and make referrals where safeguarding issues arise.

General Responsibilities

  • To engage with members of the public in a positive and constructive way and ensure their needs are met.
