About the Organisation
Neighbourhood Connectors CIC is a community-led, not-for-profit organisation providing a face-to-face befriending and listening service to help reduce loneliness and social isolation across Halton.
We believe that meaningful conversations, friendly visits, and community connections can have a positive impact on wellbeing and help people feel more connected to the world around them.
Purpose of the Role
Neighbourhood Connectors provide companionship, conversation, and a listening ear to people who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation.
By building supportive relationships through regular contact, volunteers help participants feel valued, heard, and connected within their local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly face-to-face conversations and companionship
- Offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental listening ear
- Build positive and trusting relationships with participants
- Help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
- Encourage social connection and community involvement where appropriate
- Signpost participants to local services, groups, and activities when relevant
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and follow safeguarding guidance
- Keep in contact with the Coordinator regarding any concerns or support needs

- Personal care or domiciliary care
- Medication support
- Financial or legal advice
- Counselling or therapy
- Emergency or crisis intervention
Requirements
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who:
- Are friendly, patient, and approachable
- Have good listening and communication skills
- Are reliable and compassionate
- Enjoy meeting and supporting people
- Respect confidentiality and personal boundaries
- Can commit to regular visits or conversations

No previous experience is required. Full training and support will be provided.
Support Provided
- Volunteer induction and role guidance
- Safeguarding awareness training
- DBS check where appropriate
- Ongoing support from the Coordinator
- Regular check-ins and opportunities to share experiences
