Neighbourhood Support Officer OPILS (Older Persons Independent Living Service)
An exciting new opportunity has arisen within the Older Person’s Independent Living Service for recruitment to a full-time permanent Neighbourhood Support Officer post.
The post will incorporate both general office administration duties for the OPIL service and occasional cover for the first point of contact on the reception desk at Buchanan Green, our newest retirement living building. The post is primarily office based however the ability to drive and have access to a vehicle would be an advantage for some aspects of the role e.g. undertaking H&S checks at OPIL buildings across the city.
The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator and have exceptional face to face customer service skills. They will be able to demonstrate their ability to manage their own workload, whilst working as part of a team. They will have a proactive flexible approach to work, proven IT skills, and be focused on helping older, and vulnerable people to live independently and age well.
The OPIL team is currently located at Windsor Street, Sheffield, however it is expected to relocate to a new office, yet to be confirmed, before the end of 2026.

Work Hours and Salary
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
