Are you an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with an interest in caring for premature and sick neonates? Would you like to advance your career by working for Stockport Foundation NHS Trust within a greater Neonatal Network?
If this is you, then we would love to meet you!
We are looking for Neonatal / Paediatric Staff nurses to join our friendly Neonatal nursing team. We have 17 cots (2 ITU, 3 HDU & 12 SC cots) providing care for neonates from 27 weeks gestation.
We have close links and are part of the wider North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network. We also link in with local tertiary units to gain further valuable expertise. We are proud to have achieved FiCare Accreditation and uphold this standard within the care that we give to all our families.
We work in collaboration with the Maternity Unit and the Paediatric Ward enabling the services to align, and thus providing a strong supportive environment to all staff and patients.
We provide specialist training, including opportunities to attend the NWNODN Foundation in Neonates programme in the first 12 months and to undergo the Qualified in Speciality Neonatal Intensive Care course. A Trust Preceptorship Programme is also provided.
We have an enthusiastic, experienced Neonatal Educator based on the unit to support your learning and ongoing development including in-house study days. This ensures valuable support for both nursing staff, pre-registration students, and cadets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
