Neonatal Ward Clerk: Part time (18 hours)

We are seeking a professional, motivated, flexible person to join our team. The successful applicant will be expected to be computer literate, have effective communication skills and maintain strict confidentiality.

The role will require a range of duties, both administrative and reception, to assist the Dr’s, Nurses and Support staff within our busy Neonatal Ward, helping maintain the smooth running of the ward.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, and the ability to be calm and patient under pressure. A smart and professional appearance and attitude is essential as the Ward Clerk is often the first point of contact with women and their families, visitors and staff.

Please note that whilst the trust does offer sponsorship this role is unfortunately not eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Health and Care Worker/Skilled visa route. This is due to the position not meeting the minimum salary threshold of £25,000 and the required skill level set by UK Visas and Immigration.

We appreciate your interest in this opportunity and encourage applications from candidates who already have the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative/Clerical
    • Responsible for collection of notes for the clinic, filing all relevant results in patient records, tracking and returning notes.
    • Greeting patients and visitors to the ward

    • Answer the telephone and take and record messages whilst adhering to the telephone standard applicable throughout the Trust and alert the Nursing staff to any action required.
    • Provide clerical support to the Nurses and Dr’s in relation to filing, emailing, faxing and obtaining patient records and results as appropriate.
    • Responsible for the ordering and collection of stationery and ensuring all appropriate documents, Patient Information Leaflets and general items required are well stocked and readily available.
    • Inputting data onto relevant databases
    • Passing on information to the Nursing team
    • Issue client car park permits and direct them to the general office.
    • Assist with the paper results daily by checking for appointments, filing and issuing letters to the patient as instructed by the Nurses
    • Provide holiday and sickness cover for other clerical staff as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
