Please note: there are two roles being advertised; one which will lead a range of H&S assurance activities and a second which will focus on implementing and assuring fire safety arrangements. To be successful in these roles you will be required to periodically travel to Abbey Wood and each of the NEST sites with travel expenses being met when working away from your duty site.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide oversight to ensure the effective management of Health and Safety. Collaborate to cultivate a culture that prioritises a safe and secure working environment by advocating the legislative requirements and organisational policies that align with the organisation’s safety objectives. Demonstrate excellent safety behaviours by proactively identifying and escalating concerns, whilst enabling teams and individuals to take responsibility and act appropriately.
• Lead investigations, audits and assurance reviews, identifying key lessons to promote continuous improvement.
• Serve as the escalation point for Health and Safety advice and guidance across the organisation.
• Manage the implementation of occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations within DE&S.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of relevant performance indicators, dashboard reports and risk registers.

Person Specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Evidence of working in a dedicated health and safety role
• Hold or working towards a Level 5/6 Safety Qualification
• Experience of managing fire safety
