About The Role
The role is a hands-on backend engineering position designed for a skilled developer with a strong background in modern software development practices. The primary focus will be on building, reviewing, and maintaining production-grade code within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and efficient backend solutions that integrate AI components and support the company's AI-powered products. While this is currently a technical role, there is a clear pathway for growth into broader technical ownership, including architecture leadership, mentoring, and a principal track over the next 12 to 18 months. This position does not involve managerial responsibilities at present but offers significant opportunities for professional development and increased influence within the organization.

- Proficiency in commercial C# and modern.NET frameworks (version 8 and above)
- Hands-on experience with Blazor in a production environment
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and operations
- Experience working with Azure cloud services such as App Service, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus, and Key Vault
- Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC)
- Experience using Azure DevOps Pipelines for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)
- Knowledge of API gateway patterns, API security, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect protocols
- Proficiency with project management and delivery tools like Jira or Azure DevOps
- Practical experience integrating AI components into production services, including prompt design, model versioning, evaluation, and balancing cost and latency considerations
- Fluency in Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted development tools
Additionally, all applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend services using C# and .NET 8+
- Building and deploying microservices architectures that are scalable and secure
- Implementing AI integrations within production environments, ensuring optimal performance and cost-efficiency
- Managing infrastructure using Terraform and deploying updates via Azure DevOps Pipelines
- Ensuring API security and implementing gateway patterns to facilitate secure and efficient communication between services
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product managers, data scientists, and frontend developers to deliver cohesive solutions
- Participating in code reviews, troubleshooting, and operational support to maintain high system reliability
- Contributing to architectural decisions and providing technical mentorship when appropriate
- Staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies relevant to backend development and AI integration
