About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated backend engineer to join our client's team. This role involves hands-on development, review, and operation of production-grade code, primarily focusing on building scalable, reliable backend services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modern.NET technologies and experience working with microservices architectures. While this position is currently technical in nature, there is a clear pathway to assume broader responsibilities, including architecture leadership, mentoring, and becoming a key technical authority within the team over the next 12 to 18 months. This role does not involve management responsibilities at present but offers significant opportunities for professional growth and technical influence.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, including:
- Strong proficiency in C# and modern.NET (version 8+), with a proven track record of delivering production-ready applications.
- Experience with Blazor in a production environment, demonstrating the ability to develop interactive web UIs.
- Deep understanding of microservices design principles, implementation, and operation.
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, such as App Service, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Service Bus, and Key Vault.
- Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code management and automation.
- Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines for implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).
- Knowledge of API gateway patterns, API security best practices, and OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect protocols with a security-conscious mindset.
- Familiarity with project management and delivery tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Practical experience integrating AI components into production services, including prompt design, model versioning, evaluation, and managing trade-offs related to cost and latency.
- Fluency with Claude Code or other AI-assisted development tools, leveraging AI to enhance coding efficiency and quality.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
