#.NET Developer - .NET / C# / APIs
.NET / C# / APIs - is required by fast growing and highly successful organisation.
Overall purpose of the role
They are looking for a hands-on Software Developer to help develop, enhance and support their customer-facing, operational and internal systems.
This role will focus on building and maintaining applications, APIs and integrations using Microsoft technologies, while also supporting the improvement of existing systems across a mixed legacy and modern estate. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across IT, the wider business and third-party suppliers to deliver reliable, maintainable and commercially useful solutions.
This role suits someone who is comfortable working across new development, enhancing existing systems, supporting live applications (and technical improvement of the wider application landscape) who is a pragmatic and can work effectively in a small team, contribute across the full delivery lifecycle and help improve delivery quality, documentation and technical resilience over time.
Main duties
- Develop, enhance, test and support .NET-based applications, APIs and integrations.
- Work on customer-facing, operational and internal systems, helping to improve reliability, usability and business value.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, analysts and third parties to understand requirements and translate them into workable technical solutions.
- Build and maintain system integrations between internal platforms and external suppliers or services.
- Support the ongoing improvement and maintenance of existing applications, including troubleshooting defects, performance issues and production incidents.
- Contribute to technical design decisions, ensuring solutions are secure, supportable and aligned to good engineering practice.
- Write clean, maintainable code and follow agreed standards for version control, testing, deployment and documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, peer support and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Assist with release activity, deployment processes and post-release support where required.
- Help improve development practices, documentation and technical resilience to reduce dependency on individual team members.
- Work with Azure DevOps, Git and CI/CD tooling to support structured software delivery.
- Contribute to a collaborative, delivery-focused team culture and support continuous improvement in the way Red Funnel develops and supports software.
- In addition to the duties listed above, the jobholder is expected to perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Head of IT from time to time.

Knowledge / Experience required

- Commercial experience developing software using C# and .NET
- Experience building or supporting APIs, web services and system integrations
- Experience with ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core
- Experience with SQL Server and database design / querying
- Experience using Git for source control
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar tooling for work tracking, build and deployment
- Experience working within a software development team in a structured commercial environment
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting live applications
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through technical issues in a practical way
- Good communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues
Basic salary £55-60,000 + excellent benefits
Based Southampton office 2 days per week, remote 3 days per week.
