Net Zero Project Manager | London
Susttii is recruiting a Net Zero Project Manager on behalf of a major London-based higher education institution, to help drive its Net Zero Programme (targeting scope 1 & 2 net zero by 2040).
This is a genuine blend of technical, project management and stakeholder skills. You'll be right at the heart of a large, complex net zero pipeline, working closely with the Head of Property Net Zero to keep it moving.
What you'll be doing:
- You'll help develop and refine the scope, objectives, budget and programme for the projects that make up the Net Zero Programme, and take the lead on performance monitoring, keeping the Programme Plan, Benefits Tracker and Master Tracker up to date and accurate.
- You'll spot risks and issues early, troubleshoot them, and escalate where needed to keep the programme on track.
- On delivery, you'll support the development of business cases to secure funding, build out project and programme plans, timelines and capital allowances, and support delivery project managers, working with external consultants, from concept through to RIBA Stage 2, on time, in scope and on budget.
- You'll ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability best practice, coordinate technical review of design work, and act as the key link between the Net Zero Programme and internal and external delivery teams.
- You'll also collect, analyse and report on project deliverables against the benefits tracker, present progress and next steps to stakeholders, and build strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors and regulatory bodies, plus get involved in sector forums and working groups to stay ahead of emerging best practice.

What we're looking for:
- A degree (or equivalent) in engineering, building sustainability, environmental studies or a related field.
- Relevant programme and project management training and associated software experience.
- A solid track record delivering building engineering, energy reduction or sustainability projects that contribute to net zero.
- Experience with programme and project planning and collating KPIs, particularly carbon and net zero-related metrics.
- Strong knowledge of building engineering and energy reduction principles, plus relevant environmental legislation.
- Excellent stakeholder management, comfortable working across internal and external teams to get results.
- Numerate, with the ability to build and manage programme and project budgets.
- A proactive, resilient mindset, able to juggle multiple, multifaceted projects across organisational boundaries.
- Higher education sector experience and CAFM/BMS knowledge are a plus, not a requirement.
