Network Architect – 12-Month Contract
Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Contract: 12 Months
Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Network Architect to join their technology team on a 12-month contract, taking responsibility for the design and development of secure, resilient enterprise network solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop enterprise network architecture across complex IT environments.
- Produce robust network solutions with a strong focus on security, resilience, scalability, and performance.
- Lead technical design activities across Cisco networking and Fortinet security technologies.
- Design and support firewall solutions using Fortinet and FortiGate technologies.
- Contribute to the implementation and optimisation of Zscaler solutions within the wider network and security environment.
- Produce technical architecture, design documentation, and associated network standards.
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, and other technology teams to ensure network solutions meet technical and business requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to key stakeholders and third-party technology partners throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Experience Required
- Minimum 5+ years' experience within Network Architecture, Senior Network Engineering, or a closely related role.
- Strong hands-on technical knowledge of enterprise Cisco networking technologies.
- Demonstrable experience designing and implementing solutions using Fortinet and FortiGate.
- Experience working with Zscaler technologies within enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, firewall architecture, and secure connectivity.
- Proven experience translating business and technical requirements into practical network designs.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities across complex network environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working across large-scale or complex enterprise network environments.
- Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure.
- Understanding of Zero Trust networking and security principles.
- Experience working with third-party technology and managed service providers.
- Relevant Cisco, Fortinet, Zscaler, or network security certifications would be advantageous.
Educational Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Relevant networking, security, or architecture certifications would be beneficial.
