Network Architect

Cammach are currently recruiting for a Network Architect on behalf of our client, a leading independent oil & gas company. Based in Aberdeen, this is a permanent (staff) opportunity offering the flexibility of a hybrid working arrangement.

Role

We are looking for a Network Architect to shape and lead the future of our network environment, ensuring it remains resilient, secure, and fit for the demands of a growing business. Reporting into the IT Operations & Delivery Manager, this is a senior technical leadership role with accountability for defining the network strategy, architecture standards, and long-term roadmap across the company and international operations. You will provide expert guidance on network design, helping to enable business growth while maintaining operational excellence.

Working closely with colleagues across IT, Digital & Data, and the wider business, you will translate complex connectivity requirements into practical, scalable solutions. Strong communication will be essential as you build trusted relationships with stakeholders, partners, and suppliers.

You will lead and develop a team of network professionals, creating an environment that encourages learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Through empowerment and accountability, you will support your team to take ownership of outcomes while maintaining high technical and professional standards.

Responsibilities

We're looking for an experienced network leader who combines technical authority with a collaborative and pragmatic approach.

Leadership & Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the network architecture strategy, standards, and roadmap across the organisation.
  • Provide technical leadership for secure, resilient, and scalable network solutions across multiple locations and environments.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a network engineering team, fostering capability and continuous improvement.
  • Influence stakeholders at all levels, translating business needs into effective network outcomes.
  • Oversee external suppliers and telecoms partners, ensuring service quality, value, and performance.
  • Champion network security, resilience, and governance, including support for business change and integration activity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Network Architect or senior network leadership role.
  • Strong expertise across enterprise networking, including LAN, WAN, wireless, security, and cloud connectivity.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing technical teams.
  • Experience managing third-party network and telecommunications providers, contracts, and service levels.
  • Relevant networking certification such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required.
