Opticore IT Network Automation Engineer Opportunity
Opticore IT is a specialist Network Engineer and Project Management consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within fast-paced, challenging environments across our client base spanning multiple sectors including Finance, Broadcast Media, Telecommunications and more.
Opticore IT are currently searching for a Network Automation Engineer to join a leading Financial Services client to help transform how networking is delivered across its global infrastructure. The role sits at the intersection of networking and software engineering, building the automation frameworks, APIs and tooling that make the network scalable, self-service and production ready – supporting the large-scale compute and research environments behind the finance platform.
This is a hybrid opportunity based in Central London up to 3 days a week.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and evolving automation frameworks for network provisioning and lifecycle management
- Developing infrastructure-as-code solutions using Python, Ansible, Terraform and Jinja2
- Integrating network automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Creating APIs and self-service tooling for engineering teams
- Implementing observability and telemetry solutions
- Partnering with Network, Platform and Security teams to deliver resilient, scalable systems

A mix of project work and BAU – redefining how networking is provisioned and managed through automation-first engineering, alongside ongoing production support.
Contributing to incident response and production reliability alongside core automation delivery.
What you'll bring:
- Python & software engineering fundamentals (testing, version control, CI/CD)
- Networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls, protocols)
- Infrastructure-as-code & automation (Ansible, Terraform, Jinja2)
- Docker & Kubernetes
- Monitoring, observability & telemetry in distributed systems
