Network Compliance Senior Manager

About This Role

The Network Compliance Senior Manager will play a critical role in capitalising on risk management within the second line of defence for Capital One’s network and merchant businesses.

This role will implement the framework for the network compliance program, offering expert guidance for regulatory risk challenges that impact global business operations. As a subject matter expert, you'll ensure the network compliance function supports broader enterprise risk management framework, ensuring alignment, efficiency, and effectiveness.

Our Senior Managers in Network Compliance are dynamic Risk Management professionals, equipped with exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your influence, engage directly with executives, and develop innovative solutions to identify, assess, and mitigate potential financial and operational risks.


What You’ll Do

  • Expert Compliance Advice:

    • Utilise deep subject matter expertise to provide challenging compliance advice on risks affecting networks and merchant businesses through coal commitments to formal and informal engagements.
  • Regulatory Process Mastery:

    • Develop an expert-level understanding of network and merchant business processes.
    • Deep-divine into business operations to determine applicability across legal regimes, leveraging Capital One’s global legal inventory.
  • Risk Analysis & Forecasting:

    • Proactively identify trends from business data and recognise emerging payments compliance risks.
    • Stay ahead of regulatory shifts with nuanced knowledge of evolving compliance landscapes.
  • Industry & Regulatory Acumen:

    • Maintain advanced expertise on payments industry trends, legal standards, rules, and regulations applicable to Capital One.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Partner with first-line and second-line functions to refine capitalisation of the risk management framework for network and merchant services operations.
  • Influencing Stakeholders:

    • Educate and guide risk management teams and senior leadership on specialised considerations and nuances in compliance processes.
  • New Product & Expansion Integration:

    • Ensure compliance requirements are effectively applied across business expansions and new product launches.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Integration:

    • Nurture strong partnerships with Business Risk, Legal, and Audit teams to drive seamless integration and align with network compliance strategies.

Essential Criteria

  • Leadership & Drive:
    • Strong organizational skills, goal-orientation, preparedness to achieve short- and long-term objectives in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Regulatory & Risk Management Experience:
    • A track record in a highly regulated financial or payments industry, thriving within entrepreneurial and fast-paced environments.
  • Interpersonal & Collaborative Strengths:
    • Ability to influence teams, offer solution-oriented insight, and champion a collaborative culture, while building and activating high-performing teams.
  • Communication & Influence:
    • Articulate and charismatic skills, adept at writing or speaking persuasively. Emphasis on strategic influence, negotiation, and secure agreement-building through logic, interpersonal leverage.
  • Flexible & Relationship-Driven:
    • Comfort mentoring individual projects while proactively escalating when necessary to engage senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant equivalent experience.
    • An advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, Doctorate) is highly desirable.
  • Specialised Skills & Experience:

    • Extensive compliance skills or-related knowledge and experience in legal/risk management fields or regulatory roles in consumer financial services or payments industry.
