Role: Network Engineer

Location: London

Job Description:

We are seeking a Network Operations Engineer (L1/L2) to support and maintain the organization’s global network infrastructure. The role is responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational management of enterprise network and security platforms, ensuring high availability and performance across WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, wireless, and security environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with network and security technologies, along with the ability to manage incidents, changes, and vendor coordination effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Incident Management & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and resolve end-user and system issues across:
    • PANW Firewalls, PANW SD-WAN, PANW Prisma Access
    • Routing & Switching environments
    • Wireless and NAC (CISCO ISE)
  • Perform initial analysis, L2 troubleshooting, and escalate when required
  • Support global network incidents, outages, and performance degradation

Monitoring & Alert Handling

  • Monitor network alerts, dashboards, and monitoring tools
  • Perform triage and take corrective actions based on alerts
  • Ensure proactive identification of issues and minimize downtime

Vendor & TAC Management

  • Open and manage TAC cases with OEM vendors (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco)
  • Coordinate with ISPs and service providers for circuit issues
  • Track and follow up until resolution

Network Operations & Administration

  • Perform routine network operations including:
    • URL allow listing, firewall changes
    • Log analysis (traffic, URL filtering, blocked ports)
  • Maintain monitoring systems and ensure devices are onboarded

Change & Release Management

  • Submit change requests and participate in CAB discussions
  • Implement approved changes in production (low/medium risk changes)
  • Ensure proper documentation and rollback plans

Upgrades & Maintenance

  • Perform software upgrades and patching for:
    • PANW Firewalls
    • CSCO Switches
    • PANW SD-WAN appliances
  • Assist in lifecycle management activities

Configuration & Deployment

  • Configure network and security devices under guidance:
    • Firewall rules, SD-WAN policies
    • Switch VLANs, routing updates
    • ISE device onboarding (NAC/TACACS+)

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of experience in Network Operations / NOC / NetOps
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with structured approach
  • Experience working in enterprise environments with multiple vendors
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
  • Basic understanding of network security and access control

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in global network environments
  • Exposure to firewall/SD-WAN/cloud networking platforms
  • Certifications (optional but beneficial):
    • CCNA / CCNP
    • Palo Alto PCNSE / PCNSA

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills for incident handling and stakeholder updates
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 operational environment (if applicable)
  • Attention to detail and documentation discipline
