About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join the established Network Operations team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is based in Stevenage, with occasional support required across Bolton and Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organisation’s network infrastructure, ensuring high levels of security, stability, and performance across multiple UK sites. Working closely with internal technical teams, security specialists, and external vendors, the Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting secure, enterprise-grade network services. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a complex, highly secure environment, contributing to vital national security initiatives and ongoing network improvement projects. The role requires a valid DV security clearance, and the candidate must be able to operate within strict security protocols.

Qualifications
- Valid DV security clearance
- Strong background in Network Engineering and IT Infrastructure
- Experience working within secure or highly regulated network environments
- Proficiency with Cisco technologies, including Catalyst switches and ISE
- Knowledge of routing and switching protocols such as OSI, OSPF, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, TCP/IP
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux/RHEL, and VMware
- Exposure to Software Defined Access (SDA), authentication services, and network security
- Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or Nagios
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills
Responsibilities
- Providing operational support for enterprise network infrastructure across multiple sites
- Investigating, owning, and resolving network-related issues and risks promptly
- Supporting network improvement projects and contributing to wider business initiatives
- Collaborating with security teams on network reporting, risk analysis, and compliance activities
- Ensuring the stability, security, and performance of business-critical network services
- Supporting secure network environments, including crypto solutions and associated technologies
- Maintaining comprehensive network documentation and operational procedures
- Liaising with third-party vendors and technology partners to optimise service delivery
- Participating in network security assessments and implementing necessary security measures
- Contributing to continuous network improvement and security initiatives within the organisation
