Network Engineer | Network Security, NAC & Cloud Connectivity

Location: Coventry (Hybrid - 3 Days Per Week Onsite)
Contract: 6 Months
Rate: £375 - £400 per day (Inside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP

We're currently seeking an experienced Network Resource to join a major cyber security and network transformation programme within a critical infrastructure environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on network professional with strong experience across network security, NAC, firewall governance, cloud networking, DNS services, and enterprise connectivity. Working across IT, OT, and cloud environments, you'll play a key role in improving network resilience, strengthening security controls, and supporting ongoing Zero Trust and network modernisation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the deployment and ongoing management of Network Access Control (NAC) solutions and device authentication services.
  • Assist in implementing network segmentation and trust-zone strategies across enterprise, OT, and cloud environments.
  • Review and maintain secure connectivity between IT, OT, DMZ, Azure, AWS, and internet-facing services.
  • Support firewall governance, security policy reviews, and rule optimisation activities.
  • Assist with Azure Firewall, IDS/IPS, and network security improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure to ensure high levels of service availability and performance.
  • Support core network services including DNS, DHCP, NTP, and associated security controls.
  • Contribute to device visibility, profiling, monitoring, and network observability initiatives.
  • Integrate network telemetry and operational insights into monitoring and security platforms.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and cyber security teams to support transformation projects and operational excellence.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure and connectivity services.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and NTP.
  • Experience with network security technologies including firewalls, VPNs, and access control solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Network Access Control (NAC) solutions such as Cisco ISE, Forescout, Aruba ClearPass, or similar.
  • Understanding of network segmentation, Zero Trust principles, and secure connectivity models.
  • Experience working with cloud networking services in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments.
  • Knowledge of firewall management, policy governance, and security best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, monitoring, and incident resolution skills.
  • Experience analysing network performance and implementing corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Cisco Meraki wireless and access control technologies.
  • Forescout, Infoblox, or similar enterprise networking platforms.
  • IDS/IPS, DDoS mitigation, and network security monitoring solutions.
  • Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and VPN modernisation programmes.
  • DNSSEC, Protective DNS, and encrypted DNS technologies.
  • Hybrid cloud and multi-cloud networking environments.
  • SIEM, SOC, or SOAR integrations.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Advanced Networking, or equivalent.
