As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the digital infrastructure that enables services to be delivered to residents, businesses and communities across West Northamptonshire. Working within our Digital, Data & Technology team, you’ll help ensure our network services remain secure, resilient and reliable, supporting the delivery of modern and effective public services.

What will you be doing?
- Provide day-to-day support for the Council’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls and remote access solutions.
- Work closely with colleagues, suppliers and technology partners, monitoring network performance, investigating incidents and implementing solutions to maintain high levels of service availability and reliability.
- Support the delivery of network upgrades, configuration changes and infrastructure improvements, ensuring all activity is completed in line with change management processes and technical standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of secure and resilient network services, helping to strengthen network security, business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Maintain accurate documentation, support continuous improvement initiatives and work collaboratively across the Digital, Data & Technology service to identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and user experience.

About You
- Experienced IT professional with a strong understanding of networking technologies and a passion for delivering reliable and secure digital services.
- Experience supporting network infrastructure within an operational IT environment and confident diagnosing and resolving technical issues across complex networks.
- Knowledge of networking principles, security controls, resilience planning and service management practices, with experience of working across technologies such as LAN, WAN, wireless networking, firewalls and remote access solutions.
- Comfortable working under pressure during incidents and able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Proactive, collaborative and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
