About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join Visa’s Infrastructure Network Services team. This critical role involves supporting, managing, and enhancing Visa’s global network infrastructure, including data centers, backbone, access networks, and cloud environments. As a Senior Network Support Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of Visa’s network operations. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting complex network issues, implementing network solutions, supporting automation initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize network performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure, contribute to large-scale projects, and support Visa’s mission to deliver reliable and secure payment services worldwide.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, with a postgraduate degree considered a plus. A minimum of five years of hands-on experience in network support or administration is required. Professional certifications such as CCNA are mandatory, and additional certifications like ITIL, CCNP, or cloud-related credentials are advantageous. Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of routing protocols including TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF, along with experience in network packet analysis tools such as Wireshark. Familiarity with security technologies, WAN/LAN configurations, and network hardware including Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switches, Arista switches, and Cisco/Juniper routers is essential. Experience with F5 load balancers, DNS tools, CDN providers, automation scripting (Python, Ansible), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate a good understanding of ITIL processes, SDN technologies, and network management tools like SolarWinds, NetBrain, and Netscout.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level support for complex network issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems to ensure minimal service disruption.
  • Manage and support Visa’s global network infrastructure, including datacenter, backbone, access, and cloud networks, adhering to ITIL change, incident, and problem management processes.
  • Coordinate resources and serve as an escalation point for first-line operational teams, ensuring timely resolution of network incidents.
  • Deploy network solutions, design implementations, and support the integration of new network components and services.
  • Proactively identify potential network impacts through continuous monitoring and analysis, initiating preventive measures when necessary.
  • Lead or participate in real-time crisis resolution calls, performing root cause analysis and documenting lessons learned.
  • Conduct internal technical training sessions for Level 1 and Level 2 network operations teams to enhance team capabilities.
  • Manage and execute network projects, ensuring full compliance with standards and timely delivery of objectives.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python and other scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide operational support for cloud network environments, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Participate in weekend shifts and public holiday rotations as required, maintaining flexibility to support global operations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement improvements and support new technology integrations.
