Network Engineer - Cyber Security & Network Transformation

Location: Coventry (Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite)
Contract: 6 Months
Rate: £375 per day (Inside IR35)
Start Date: ASAP

We're currently supporting a leading organisation undergoing a significant Cyber Security and Network Transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join the team on an initial 6-month contract.

This role will play a key part in designing, implementing, and supporting secure, resilient, and high-performing network infrastructure across both IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments. You'll work closely with security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to deliver network transformation initiatives, improve security posture, and support business-critical connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise and OT network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud connectivity solutions.
  • Deliver network components supporting Cyber Security and Zero Trust Architecture programmes.
  • Configure and support routing, switching, firewalls, VPN technologies, and network segmentation.
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and network transformation projects from design through to implementation.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and resilience, proactively resolving issues.
  • Implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Support secure IT/OT convergence through industrial DMZs and secure connectivity models.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standards, and CMDB records.
  • Provide technical leadership and support for incidents, changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls and security technologies.
  • Practical experience with Network Access Control (NAC) solutions such as Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, or similar.
  • Strong experience with Cisco Meraki, particularly wireless networking and VPN technologies.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking architectures and the integration of cloud and enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise networking environments covering LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, routing and switching.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Utilities, Energy, Water, Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), or other highly regulated industries.
  • Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and network micro-segmentation initiatives.
  • Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and SCADA environments.
  • Azure and AWS networking.
  • Cloud security and hybrid networking solutions.
  • Network automation and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Python).
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, NSE, AWS Advanced Networking, or Azure Network Engineer Associate.
