Senior Network Design Engineer / Team Leader – Rail
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Network Design Engineer / Team Leader to join a major railway project, providing technical leadership across complex network architecture and telecommunications solutions within safety-critical environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior networking professional with experience across rail, SCADA, industrial networking, signalling or operational telecommunications to take a leading role in the design and delivery of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of network architectures and designs across railway projects
- Design and review LAN/WAN, Industrial Ethernet, SCADA and station system networks
- Develop networks supporting CCTV, voice, passenger information systems, signalling and backbone communications
- Produce network architecture documentation, diagrams, IP addressing/subnetting plans, cable schedules and configurations
- Design secure solutions incorporating firewalls, DMZs, IPsec and authentication
- Gather customer requirements and develop technical proposals and solutions

Essential Experience
- CCNP level or equivalent practical experience
- Strong experience in LAN/WAN architecture, network security and industrial networking
- Experience with SISS/station systems, SCADA and control networks
- Experience working in safety-critical environments
- Previous experience within the rail industry, ideally operational telecommunications, signalling or related systems
- Understanding of railway standards, processes, safety and quality requirements

Rate: £350 per day
