Network Infrastructure Engineer
£70,000 to £80,000
Location: London
Hybrid: 2 Days a week in office
A well-established professional services business is looking for a Network Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of its network as it grows internationally.
The company has added several overseas offices recently, and the network has grown quickly to keep up. They now need someone who can bring structure to it, standardise how things are done across sites and cloud, and build it properly for the next stage of growth.
This is a hands-on engineering role, not a design-only or management position. You would have your hands in the firewalls, the switching and the cloud networking day to day.
Across the offices, you would:
- Look after the switching, wireless and firewall estate across multiple UK and overseas sites, including upgrades and rollouts.
- Handle the routing and VPN connectivity that ties the offices together.
- Travel to other offices when a new site needs setting up or existing kit needs upgrading.

In the cloud, you would:
- Own the networking side of their Azure environment, with some AWS and GCP alongside it.
- Connect cloud and offices securely and make sure traffic flows the way it should.
- Work closely with the security team so the network and firewall rules stay tight.
Making it scale, you would:
- Turn one-off setups into repeatable standards that other engineers can follow.
- Script or automate the jobs that currently get done by hand.
- Be the person who gets to the bottom of an incident and fixes the cause, not just the symptom.
What they actually need from you:
- Genuinely strong networking fundamentals. You can subnet in your head and explain how a packet gets from a laptop to a website and back.
- Hands-on Palo Alto experience, including BGP.
- Real Azure networking experience, where you can explain why it was built the way it was, not just that you clicked through it.
- Solid routing and WAN knowledge across multi-site environments.

Nice to have, but honestly not essential:
- Cisco Meraki, or experience with a similar enterprise vendor.
- Terraform, Python or any other automation tooling.
- AWS or GCP networking.
- Experience in a business that grew from SME toward enterprise.
Worth knowing upfront: there is travel to other offices roughly once a quarter, including Europe and the US, all paid and planned well ahead. There is also an on-call rota for critical incidents.
