About The Role

We are currently partnering with a highly reputable organization located near Leicester to recruit a Senior Network / Infrastructure Engineer. This role offers a hybrid working model, with two days working from home after the successful completion of the probation period. The position provides an exciting opportunity to work within a large-scale enterprise environment supporting over 7,000 endpoints, more than 1,600 Cisco LAN devices, and over 220 WAN links across the UK. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical escalation point, providing leadership in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing critical network and infrastructure services. This role is ideal for an experienced network engineer eager to make a significant impact within a dynamic and technology-driven organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in network engineering with relevant industry certifications and hands-on experience. A CCNA or CCNP certification or equivalent is essential, demonstrating proficiency in Cisco networking. Candidates should have extensive experience working with Cisco Catalyst switches and wireless solutions, along with advanced knowledge of LAN, WLAN, and WAN troubleshooting across multiple sites. Strong expertise in routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF is required, alongside a comprehensive understanding of network security principles. Experience working within Azure or hybrid cloud environments is highly desirable, as is familiarity with Cisco Firepower FMC, ISE, and ISE-PIC. The ability to troubleshoot complex network issues efficiently and provide technical leadership or mentorship to junior team members is also important for this role.

Responsibilities

The Senior Network / Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of tasks to ensure the stability, security, and performance of the organization’s network infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable network solutions
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues
  • Maintaining network security standards
  • Leading network projects
  • Conducting capacity planning
  • Optimizing existing infrastructure to meet evolving business needs
  • Acting as a technical escalation point
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support enterprise-wide technology initiatives
  • Maintaining documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with security policies
  • Staying updated on the latest networking technologies and best practices
