About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network / Infrastructure Engineer to join a reputable organization located near Leicester. This role offers a hybrid working model, with two days working from home after the successful completion of the probation period. The successful candidate will be joining a large-scale enterprise environment supporting over 7,000 endpoints, 1,600+ Cisco LAN devices, and more than 220 WAN links across the UK. This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead critical network projects, troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, and contribute to the strategic development of the company's network architecture.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in networking and infrastructure, with relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent. Hands-on experience with Cisco networking devices and protocols is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of LAN, WLAN, and WAN troubleshooting across multiple sites, along with advanced routing skills involving BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF. Experience working in Azure or hybrid cloud environments is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with Cisco Catalyst switches, Wireless solutions, Cisco Firepower FMC, ISE, and ISE-PIC will be advantageous. The candidate must also possess excellent troubleshooting skills, the ability to handle escalated issues efficiently, and previous experience in providing technical leadership or mentoring to junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • The Senior Network / Infrastructure Engineer will act as a senior escalation point, providing expert technical guidance and leadership within the network team.
  • Responsibilities include designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing network and infrastructure services to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
  • The role involves overseeing network security protocols, managing complex WAN and LAN configurations, and supporting the ongoing integration of cloud-based solutions in Azure or hybrid environments.
  • The engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving escalated technical issues, conducting network performance analysis, and recommending improvements to enhance network reliability and security.
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to strategic planning and documentation of network architecture are also key aspects of this position.
