Network Engineer - Cisco and Fortinet
Belfast | £40,000–£50,000 + 10% Bonus + Car Allowance | Hybrid
An established technology business is looking for Network Engineers to join its growing Belfast team.
We’re interested in people with a good grounding in networking who want to develop their technical skills while working across a varied range of enterprise customer environments.
You don't need to know everything from day one. Technical aptitude, attitude and a genuine desire to learn are particularly important, and there will be opportunities to work alongside experienced engineers and continue developing your Cisco, Fortinet and wider networking expertise.
The positions offer a mixture of network support, project work and hands-on implementation, with opportunities to work both remotely and at customer sites.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting Cisco-based customer network environments
- Troubleshooting LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and connectivity issues
- Configuring and implementing network equipment
- Supporting network changes, upgrades and new installations
- Working with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs and wider network security technologies
- Assisting with technical projects and customer implementations
- Working directly with customers to diagnose and resolve issues
- Attending customer sites where required for installation, configuration and troubleshooting work
- Working alongside senior engineers on more complex technical issues
- Producing clear technical documentation and keeping support records up to date
- Working with technology vendors and other engineering teams

About you
You'll have a good foundation in networking and some practical experience working with network infrastructure.
We're particularly interested in people with:
- Cisco networking experience
- A good understanding of routing and switching
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DNS and DHCP
- Some experience supporting LAN/WAN environments
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- An interest in network security and firewall technologies
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- A willingness to learn and develop technically

CCNA or CCNP certification would be useful but isn't essential if you can demonstrate the right practical knowledge and experience.
Experience with Fortinet/FortiGate, enterprise Wi-Fi, firewalls, VPNs, Python, Ansible or cloud networking would also be useful, but we're not looking for someone who ticks every box.
For positions involving regular work at customer sites, you'll need a full UK driving licence.
