Position Description
At CGI, you’ll help build and maintain secure, resilient infrastructure that enables critical programmes to succeed. As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll take ownership of networking environments from installation and configuration through to ongoing optimisation, applying your expertise across Linux, automation and cloud technologies. You’ll have the freedom to solve complex infrastructure challenges creatively, contribute to both on-site and off-site builds, and help shape practical solutions that deliver lasting value. Working alongside a collaborative community of CGI experts, you’ll be supported in expanding your capabilities across networking, systems and cloud while making a tangible contribution to secure, high-impact client environments.
CGI was recognised in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work List 2025 and has been named a UK ‘Best Employer’ by the Financial Times. We offer a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3.5% + 3.5% matching) which makes you a CGI Partner not just an employee. We are committed to inclusivity, building a genuinely diverse community of tech talent and inspiring everyone to pursue careers in our sector, including our Armed Forces, and are proud to hold a Gold Award in recognition of our support of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Join us and you’ll be part of an open, friendly community of experts. We’ll train and support you in taking your career wherever you want it to go.
Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a role that requires you to be on site in London 5 days a week.
Your future duties and responsibilities
In this role, you will take ownership of installing, configuring and maintaining secure networking infrastructure and the environments that support it. You’ll apply your networking and systems expertise to build reliable infrastructure both on and off site, troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience and security.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
