Network Engineer – AWS & Network Security
We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a major international technology organisation on an initial 12-month contract.
This is a senior, hands-on position with a strong focus on AWS networking, network security/firewalls and Python automation. You'll be joining at an important time for the team as it takes on increased responsibility for firewalling and network security, making this a key contract appointment.
What you'll be doing
- Building, operating and troubleshooting large-scale AWS network infrastructure
- Working hands-on with AWS networking services including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Subnets, Route Tables, NAT Gateways, Internet Gateways, VPNs and Direct Connect
- Deploying, managing and troubleshooting firewalls within AWS environments
- Automating network provisioning, configuration and monitoring using Python
- Working with routing and switching technologies, including BGP and TCP/IP
- Supporting highly available and secure public-cloud network environments
- Troubleshooting complex networking and security issues
- Working closely with technical teams, customers and stakeholders
- Supporting incident management and working with external network vendors where required

Key Skills
- Strong, hands-on AWS networking experience
- Commercial experience with network security and firewalls
- Palo Alto firewall experience is strongly preferred, although strong Cisco firewall experience will also be considered
- Around 3+ years of Python coding/automation experience
- Strong routing and switching knowledge, particularly BGP
- Experience designing, building and troubleshooting cloud network infrastructure
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience with Terraform, multi-vendor networking, RPKI/IRR, internet peering or global exchange points would also be beneficial.

Rate
- £640 per day Outside IR35
