Network Engineer – Physical Security Infrastructure
We are seeking a Network Engineer – Physical Security Infrastructure, you will work on the deployment, operational integrity, and security hardening of our global physical security networks. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, deploying, and maintaining dedicated, isolated network environments that support enterprise physical security technologies—including IP video surveillance (VMS), access control systems (ACS), and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Rollouts: Plan, design, configure, and deploy local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to support expanding physical security frameworks.
- Switch Configuration: Standardize, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade PoE switches specifically allocated to the isolated security network.
- Provisioning & Imaging: Set up, troubleshoot, and image edge Linux-based security servers using out-of-band management tools (e.g., iDRAC, Lifecycle Controller).
Maintenance & Operations
- Connectivity Management: Troubleshoot link failures, routing anomalies, and packet loss between edge networks and upstream systems (e.g., resolving network down alerts or NIC interface dropouts).
- Remote Management: Utilize secure cryptographic protocols (SSH, port-forwarding tunnels, and proxy gateways) to safely configure and audit devices located behind isolated network boundaries.
- Power Management: Manage and power-cycle network ports remotely to maintain operational continuity of security peripherals (e.g., cameras and controllers).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all build artifacts, network subnets, topology configurations, and equipment metadata are meticulously documented in internal databases.
- Network Audits: Use diagnostics, network scans, and network management platforms to verify that only authorized devices are connected to the physical security network.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Cisco CCNP (Routing & Switching / Enterprise): Must have an active CCNP to demonstrate advanced routing, switching, and campus network troubleshooting capabilities.
- CompTIA Network+: Core certification verifying foundational network design, configuration, and diagnostics principles.
Technical Skills
- Hard Networking: Deep expertise in WAN/LAN protocols, VLAN design, TCP/IP, IP subnetting, routing tables, and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
- Hardware Competency: Hands-on experience configuring Cisco PoE switches, other enterprise-grade switches, and managing server chassis out-of-band (iDRAC or equivalent).
- Linux Administration: Comfortable in an enterprise Linux environment, running SSH utilities, configuring network interfaces, and utilizing command-line network diagnostic tools.
