Network Engineer – SC Cleared

We are looking for an experienced SC Cleared Network Engineer to join a busy infrastructure and network operations team, supporting critical customer environments. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong background in enterprise networking, wireless technologies, network security, and data centre infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of complex network environments while travelling to supported sites to resolve incidents and deliver infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, support and troubleshoot Cisco enterprise networking environments.
  • Deploy and maintain Cisco Wireless and Meraki Wi-Fi solutions.
  • Manage and support Cisco ISE for network access control and authentication.
  • Carry out wireless site surveys and wireless leakage surveys using Ekahau surveying equipment.
  • Support LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switching, routing, patching, and fault diagnosis.
  • Manage patch panels, structured cabling, and cabinet documentation.
  • Support Cisco ACI environments and undertake hardware maintenance, including battery replacements.
  • Configure and manage firewalls including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, and Meraki, including VPN configuration and access control policies.
  • Administer and troubleshoot F5 Load Balancers (Aqua).
  • Configure, manage, and maintain Catapan encryptors, including keying processes.
  • Monitor network performance using SolarWinds.
  • Travel to customer sites to remediate faults involving firewalls, routers, switches, and Catapan devices.
  • Manage Cisco Smart Licensing.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network incidents while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Produce accurate technical documentation and maintain asset records.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Active SC Clearance (mandatory).
  • Strong Cisco networking experience across enterprise environments.
  • Cisco Wireless and Meraki Wi-Fi deployment and support.
  • Cisco ISE administration.
  • LAN/WAN technologies including routing, switching, and structured cabling.
  • Physical installation of networking equipment, racking, and patching.
  • Cisco ACI experience.
  • Firewall administration including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, and Meraki.
  • VPN technologies and network access control.
  • F5 Load Balancing.
  • SolarWinds monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Cisco Smart Licensing.
  • Excellent fault-finding and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites across the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of Avaya telephony systems.
  • Experience managing Catapan encryptors and associated security procedures.
  • Relevant Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP or equivalent).
  • Experience working within ITIL service management environments.
