Network Engineer

Mother Technologies has been providing IT Support, Telecoms, and Connectivity services to organizations across Scotland for more than 20 years. Headquartered in Aberdeen, we are a trusted Service Provider, delivering a complete range of technology services to our customers.

Reliable, secure connectivity is critical for modern organizations operating across cloud and hybrid environments. As a Network Engineer at Mother, you will play an important role in ensuring our network infrastructure delivers the performance, security, and reliability our customers depend on.

You will be involved in the design, delivery, and ongoing support of our network, including private and public circuits, interconnects, switching, routing, and security appliances. Working closely with our IT and Telecoms engineers, you will help ensure the backbone of our business continues to meet the needs of our customers, while maintaining the high standards that underpin our position as a trusted technology provider.

Is This You?

The ideal candidate will have a sound networking background comprising routing fundamentals, routing protocols, switching, VLAN’s, firewalling, VPN’s, SD-WAN, QoS, and Wireless networking. Experience with Meraki, HPE Aruba, Cisco, and DrayTek appliances would be beneficial.

You will be passionate about what you do, work well with your colleagues, and be flexible in all aspects of your work to ensure Mother’s clients receive the best of service at all times.

Prerequisites

  • Thorough understanding of IP Addressing, Subnets, Routing & DNS
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical routing experience
  • Knowledge of Standard Industry Routing Protocols
  • Positive, professional approach to all aspects of work
  • Calm, logical approach to troubleshooting
  • Full Driving License

Advantageous

  • Cisco Router and Firewall experience
  • Experience with HP Aruba Switches and WiFi Equipment
  • VoIP and application of associated QoS policies
  • VPNs, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLANs, SD-WAN, DNS & DHCP
  • Hold academic or professional networking qualifications
