eir business talent are currently seeking applicants for a Network Engineer for eir business Northern Ireland. This is a permanent position located in our Belfast, Northern Ireland, office. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days onsite per week.

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to play a key role in delivering, supporting, and evolving complex customer environments while acting as a trusted technical adviser and subject matter expert.

This is an opportunity to join a highly skilled team where you'll work with modern networking and security technologies, collaborate with industry-leading vendors, and help shape innovative solutions for customers across a diverse portfolio.

The Role

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimisation, and support of enterprise network and security solutions. You will work closely with customers, internal teams, and technology partners to ensure successful outcomes and exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical adviser for enterprise customers.
  • Design, implement, and support network and security solutions.
  • Review solution designs and provide expert technical guidance.
  • Deliver network optimisation and reliability improvements across customer environments.
  • Develop technical documentation, testing plans, and implementation procedures.
  • Ensure solutions meet security best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with vendors and technology partners on emerging solutions.
  • Contribute to innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous service improvement.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting critical customer services.
  • Support the ongoing development of colleagues through mentoring and technical leadership.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in experienced network professionals who combine strong technical expertise with a customer-first mindset and a passion for continuous learning.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience with Cisco enterprise networking technologies, including:
    • LAN, WAN and WLAN, Cisco SDA (Software Defined Access), Cisco SNA, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Centre (DNAC), Cisco ACI
  • Experience across network security technologies, including:
    • Firewalls, IPS, UTM/UTP, SASE, ZTNA, Cloud Security
  • Experience designing and supporting:
    • Enterprise LAN and Wi-Fi environments
    • MPLS, Internet and Layer 2 VPN solutions
    • Data centre networking and switching environments
  • Strong understanding of enterprise-class IP networking environments.
  • Experience working with enterprise or public sector customers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Fortinet technologies including:
    • FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiWireless, FortiSASE
  • Relevant certifications such as:
    • CCNP, Cisco Security certifications, Fortinet certifications (FCA, FCP, FCCS, FCX)
  • Experience gained within a professional services or managed services environment.
