Job Description

The Network Infrastructure Engineer will collaborate closely with our clients as a trusted partner in the daily operation and advancement of extensive WAN & LAN networks. Leveraging a diverse skill set, you'll collaborate within a team of engineers, reporting to our Head of Operations, to design and implement technical strategies that drive transformative change within the organization, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced network engineer to contribute to a rapidly growing, dedicated, and collaborative organization.

  • Ensure the optimization and security of both our infrastructure and our clients' infrastructure.
  • Provide expert support to service desk engineering teams for complex faults or customer change requests.
  • Configure and troubleshoot core network devices, including core switches/routers and firewalls.
  • Deliver outstanding support to customers regarding fault escalations and change requests via our helpdesk.
  • Apply 'ITIL' principles and adhere to best practices and internal change request processes.
  • Follow change control procedures diligently, furnishing both high and low-level documentation to support proposed changes.
  • Be available for voluntary/rotational work outside of regular hours to complete planned/emergency maintenance tasks or customer change requests (overtime compensated).
  • Assist in the timely delivery of complex internal or customer projects.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing within the broader Network Infrastructure Team.
  • Configure and troubleshoot core network devices, including core switches/routers and firewalls. The work will be undertaken both remotely and on-site at our core data centres.
  • Participate in customer calls, video conferences, and in-person meetings as required to support successful network project execution.
  • Manage IP Address and VLAN Management tasks effectively.
  • Configure and troubleshoot the Cisco Call Manager Telephony System and associated Cisco Unity Voicemail Platform.
  • Configure and troubleshoot CUBE Gateways and SIP Endpoints.

Qualifications

About You:

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibit self-motivation, drive, passion, and enthusiasm.

  • Display exceptional proficiency in both written and verbal English communication.
  • Committed to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail across all tasks and responsibilities.
  • Adaptability to work independently or collaboratively within diverse team settings, depending on project requirements.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and locations to accommodate the dynamic needs of the business.
  • Full UK driving licence

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Hold a current CCNA or JNCIA Certification.
  • Prior experience in an ISP, MSP, or service desk environment.
  • Possess a keen interest and comprehensive understanding of IP networking, including WAN & LAN technologies.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities across multiple vendors/platforms.
  • Proficient understanding of best practices in network security.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing and supporting LAN/WAN network equipment, protocols, and communication standards (Cisco & Juniper).
  • Knowledgeable about Firewalls/Security Appliances (Cisco ASA/FTD & FortiGate).
  • Hands-on experience of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManger) and Cisco Unity Connection

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG).
  • Proficiency in drafting comprehensive change request documentation, including high-level and low-level diagrams.
  • Experience with IPSEC, SSL VPN, and Remote Access solutions.
  • Pursuing or holding CCNP or JNCIP certification.
  • Understanding of Network Load Balancing, encompassing website traffic, remote access, and critical service accessibility.
  • Understanding and experience of SingleWire InformaCast Paging/Broadcast system.
